Double Header this Saturday - Mexican Style!

June 18th, 2013 - submitted by Social Coordinator

Hola. ¿Dónde está el baño? ¿Cuánto cuesta? Cheque por favor! Estoy embarazada! Don’t you wish you could be practicing your phrasebook Spanish on a beach in Mexico (except maybe the last one... Look it up)? Well even though you’re stuck in Melbourne in winter, MUBC has a solution for you. Its our annual Big V double header Mexican Night! The festivities begin at The Clyde at 4pm, hosted by the lovely Signorita’s Jen Naughton and her young apprentice Meghan Helms. (just in case you haven't meet them yet they have included a photo of themselves for you)
If only your Mexican grandmother was around so she could cook you up some of those classic Mexican dishes to get you into the mood. Well don’t worry because she now works at The Clyde and will be cooking up the following treats for you:
- Tacos (two flavors) for $4
- A big plate of Nachos $13
- A new dish invented just for this occasion Wedgachos $13
- Big cold jugs of margaritas $20
At 6:10 we will form a conga line and dance our way down ‘Tin Can Alley’ getting ready to cheer on our Big V players and heckle the opposition. Remember the louder you are the better the game, and if you’ve struggle with what to yell Jen is renowned for her heckling and will be happy to give you some tips.
The women tip off at 6:30 and are playing undefeated Southern Peninsula. The lady Black Angels only came away with a 3 point loss to the top side back in Round 4, can they come away with a win? It will be a tough game!
The men tip off at 8:30 pm against bottom placed Warrnambool and are looking get their winni g streak on, coming off a 13 point win last weekend in Mildura.
Unfortunately the Daiquiri machine is broken... Boooooooooo! But we will have the usual beer, cider and UDLs. All drinks will be half price until quarter time of the women's game.
The Clyde is kindly keeping some of the kitchen open late so after the game when you’ve worked up an appetite with all that yelling they will have various treats on offer.
See you there amigos, don’t forget you sombreros and mustaches!
