Over the past few years, a group of our alumni have dedicated themselves to a putting together a comprehensive digital volume of club history.

The first phase of this project has been the collection and scanning of 213 editions of our club newsletter 'Dribbling Balls' dating back to 1974.

Uploading of these newsletters has now been completed and it is with great pride that I am able to announce a new dedicated page on our website:
Dribbling Balls Newsletter

It can also be found at the bottom of the navigation bar in our:
News Archive

This would not have been possible without the wonderful efforts from Henry Cooper who was the driving force behind collecting all these issues from various parties and then creating the digital formats. For those not familiar with Henry, he has been a huge part of MUBC since the 1970's and our annual coaches award is named in his honour.

The second phase of this project is the collation of an archive of reports and photos going back to the 1950's to supplement Dribbling Balls newsletters. This is being spearheaded by club veterans Tony Lewis and Norm Longmuir. If you navigate to some of the formative years in the News Archive, you will find some of their initial contributions. We hope to flesh this out in more detail over the coming year.

Lastly, there has been a simultaneous effort from Utah based Brigham Young University professor Fred Woods to document the involvement of Mormon missionaries at Melbourne Uni basketball. You can read more about it here on the website in Fred's really interesting article:
Mormon missionaries and MUBC

Fred has been invited to speak about this topic of Mormon involvement in Melbourne University basketball and will be giving a lecture on campus on:
The evening of Monday, May 4th, 2015

Save the date because it should be really interesting. We may even be treated to contribution at the lecture by international basketball hall of fame legend Lindsey Gaze. More details will be published to our website once a time and venue has been confirmed but we are tentatively aiming for 7pm-8.30pm, hopefully at the sports center.

A huge thank you is due to all the newsletter editors over the years. At this time, the club is without a current newsletter editor and so if you think you are up to the role and would like to stamp your name into our ongoing club history, please get in touch with the committee.

Photo credit: 1957 Melbourne Uni Mens IV team - Perth, courtesy of Fred Woods from his Mormon MUBC article
